HOST

SWTEP can work with institutions, independent spaces, private patrons, and other partners willing to make a production possible without determining its outcome.

WHAT HOSTING MEANS

A host provides conditions in which a SWTEP production can take place.

SWTEP develops the protocol.

The host makes its execution possible.

Neither role requires control over the other.

A HOST MAY PROVIDE

  • space

  • production support

  • materials

  • funding

  • logistics

  • technical resources

  • documentation support

  • public access where relevant

The requirements depend on the production.

BEFORE PRODUCTION

The proposition, conditions, responsibilities, duration, and resources are agreed before execution begins.

Once agreed, those conditions are protected for the duration of the production.

THE HOST DOES NOT DETERMINE

  • artistic outcomes

  • hierarchy between participants

  • selection during production

  • authorship

  • the meaning of the work

Hosting SWTEP does not imply ownership of SWTEP or its protocol.

PROPOSING A CONTEXT

A host may approach SWTEP with a place, question, situation, relationship, or possibility.

SWTEP determines whether there is a meaningful protocol to build around it.

Not every invitation needs to become a production.
